Power Slap 19: Titles, Upsets, and Where the Money's At
Power Slap 19 drops tonight and we could not be more ready. The Super Heavyweight title headlines a card that is loaded with intriguing matchups, live underdogs, and at least a couple of fights that probably won't need the judges. The betting lines have some real opportunities if you dig in, and that's exactly what we're here to do. Let's get into it.
BOUTS
Turpin vs. Thomas — LHW, 3 Rounds Turp didn't look like himself last time out, and that's hard to ignore. If he shows up flat again, TJ Thomas has the tools to take advantage. I'm not in love with any bet here, but if you're feeling frisky, a small flyer on TJ at +315 isn't the worst idea.
Davis vs. Stunt Marshall — MW, 3 Rounds Davis has solid history in the sport but has been on the shelf for about a year. Meanwhile Stunt Marshall has come in with serious momentum and bad intentions. I like Stunt as the small underdog here — and don't be surprised if this one ends before the judges get involved.
McCubbin vs. Haley J — WFW, 3 Rounds I'd rather sit this one out. Haley showed some nerves in her last fight and that gives me pause. If forced to pick, I'd side with McCubbin at -190, but this isn't a fight I'm rushing to bet.
Dumpling vs. Scott — SHW, 3 Rounds The odds feel about right here. Dumpling is the clear favorite at -400, but that's just too short for me to get excited about. Pass.
Pono vs. Magna — HW, 3 Rounds The line looks accurate. I'd lean Pono fairly heavy — he's the more proven fighter at this level. Johnny Magna hasn't been overly convincing in his last two outings, so I'll take Pono here.
Hager vs. Jenkins — HW, 3 Rounds Not enough information to make a comfortable bet on this one. Sitting it out.
Dibbell © vs. Mata-Varona — HW, 5 Rounds Darius has been on a serious heater lately, but I still think the champion gets it done. That said, -475 is just too steep to justify the risk. Rooting for Dibbell, not betting him.
Viernes © vs. Manu — SHW, 5 Rounds — 🏆 Bet of the Night This is the one. Makini Manu comes in as a slight favorite at -145 and I think he's got what it takes to dethrone Viernes. Best bang for your buck on the card. I wouldn't be shocked if this one ends early either. This is my official bet of the night.
As always, bet responsibly and enjoy the slaps.
